Rumor has it that unemployment numbers has increased and so has consumer spending. That might be the case in many places in America, butnot so much here in Wichita Falls or Texas for that matter.
On the brightside, businesses are still humming and for the most part those who were in business or employed last year are still employed today.
Maybe because we haven't been hit by the crisis that has affected our nation w've not seenwide spread sales, discounts orhospitable business practices, otherwise known as good old fashioned customer service improve or increase.
Just this week Ipatronized several institutions of late whose staff seem to takemy purchases and I for that matter for granted. Not so much as a whispered "Thank You," pass their lips or a"Come back and see Us Again."
There are many words and phrases that are overly used in the English language, but I unfortunately "Thank You" isn't one of them.
I thought that in tough times people became nicer and were more grateful for each other. Orbusinesses and their staff would be appreciative for their customers and for their purchases, butI was wrong.
If everyone took a moment and understood that they have or are still in business, because the community at large still has desires or needs, gives and still buys.Economics 101 is without a demand (or clients) there is no need for the supplies or the services you wish to provide and the result is the business you work for will cease and desist and the job too.
So, my point in addressing this issue is this. Our economy is volatile and so is the future of some businesses and jobs,. If you are an employer impress upon your employees the values you place upon customers and the proper treatment thereof. And if you are an employee appreciate your job and respect your position and the customers who rely upon you to carry out the services and duties your superiors have entrusted you execute. Humble yourselves and tap down pride and extend a heartfelt, "Thanks," to those who with all the choices out therechose you. Don't make them regret it.
Remember, there are people sitting at home wishing and praying for a job, just waiting for an opportunity. And remember too, where once stood a promising business have been replaced byweeds and darkened windows.
Let what is rumor across the nation not become a reality for us, and let us be the benchmark city wherequality customer service and services can be found.
Let us be known asa citythat appreciates the sacrifices and economic support of its military residents andthe many Wichitawan's who still choose to shop in town.
Deposit a little kindness in your community bank and you'll be able to withdraw double later.
