In Response to Fellow Blogger's David Rix Post.
He said: "there is a world of difference between "spreading" the wealth and "sharing" the wealth." There is some truth to this, in that spreading the wealth may require those who have more, to share more then those who have less. " Obama's plan is not to personally "give back or share" from his personal funds..."
My Response: This is not true, as Obama has said, time and time again that, those who make more then $250K his self included, will pay higher taxes as they should. He says, this with confidence because he's never been rich for long and you know how to live without.
He said: "For instance, any employer judged to have too much money will have it taxed away along with the jobs it had been providing."
My Response: If an employer is found to have too much money and it is taxed, which I don't believe that they will be the deciding factor, but if they are taxed and they decide to let their employers go, because of it. Why? What real reason will that employer have to let Joe go, just so that he can purchase another home, yacht or another diamond? That employer would be selfish and is more concerned for self then the majority on a whole.
He said: BTW, Obama's total campaign funds are now more than $600 million. That would spread around quite a bit if he were willing to turn it loose.
My Response: Let's not get it twisted, you and I both know that money is needed to reach the people and if they are willing to voluntarily support a campaign with their money then its their right to do so. Obama has let it loose, right back into the same public that supports his efforts.
He said: There is indeed a great need to help take care of the terminally poor and the unemployable disabled. However, Lev. 19:9-10 speaks of voluntary provision, not governmental confiscation...
My Response: One can't argue with biblical doctrine, but it
can be argued when it's taken out of context. Leviticus19:9-10, doesn't speak of voluntary provision, but in fact instructs the owner to do the right thing.
It would be great if folks voluntarily did the right thing, but we know this is not always the case and that's why we have a governing institution that we depend on to keep us in line.
He said: None of us are totally selfless--you, me, McCain or Obama. Obama changed his mind about using public funds in his campaigning when he realized the obscene amounts of money he could raise from corporations, unions, and other deep pockets as well as from the misguided.
My Response: That may be true, but these same folks to are American citizens and if they voluntarily decide to support Obama, McCain etc then its their right as American citizens to do so.
He has targeted these staggering riches toward obtaining the Oval Office from which he plans to spread his win-lose philosophy.
He said: "The mansion in which he now lives-his bid was $1.65 million- is certainly above his senatorial pay grade. Very suspicious, but don't expect a foreclosure. "
My response: Do your research and find out how long Obama has been rich and how many homes he owns. Find out if he carried and debts before using his head and own money through book sales to purchase and maintain his finances and pay off his educational debts.
He said: "And as far as I know, no homeless people have been invited to live with him. "
My Response: Your right, but neither you nor I have either. There are true reasons why that haven't happened.
But, based on his record of working in the community I bet you he neither knows nor is afraid to go where they live and take their concerns to the court and is willing to speak and act in their defense and in the best interest of all.
He said: " To be sure there have been some born with the proverbial silver spoon. But for the rest, more often than not it is because they planned, trained, started at the bottom, did without some of those comforts, and worked-hard. "
My Response: I agree. But, I can't help but go back to the old biblical adage that too much is given much is required. This doesn't mean when they think its convenient, but by virtue of their wealth they are required to do so.
He said: I must agree with McCain. Government giveaways financed by government takeaways are neither the foundation nor the future of our nation's greatness. Look at England, Germany, Poland, etc., where these practices are common. Anyone want to go live there? Do the research.
My Response: But, lets be real, If Obama has lived around and worked with the less fortunate I think he is intelligent enough and in touch enough to see where the current Government Programs aren't working and it is those programs he is looking to change. He has said, what he want to do, to ensure that the middle class rise to the occasion and be in a position to align themselves to become wealhy.
I don't know much about Poland, but I've lived in England and I am close friends with Germans and their systems are not perfect, but their education is impeccable giving every citizen an opportunity to at least be educated equally. The British pound is strong and has been stronger then our dollar, and why is that, because there are some sacrifices that are made, so that the country can be strong. These areas recycle and conserve their energies and live in harmony with the environment, helping them to withstand economical and geological storms.
In closing, I want to thank you for your insightful response and opinions. No matter how the election turns out, God beckons us to pray for our leaders and he doesn't differentiate of whom that may be.
