Volunteers Add Quality of Life
Contributed by: Presbyterian Manor House of Hope on 4/29/2009

As part of Volunteer Recognition Week, Presbyterian Manor honored their organization's volunteers with a special event including refreshments, program and thank you gift.

Most of the 75 volunteers are residents at Presbyterian Manor, but some are from the community and just enjoy giving to the cause. What's the cause? Ensuring quality of life for residents at all three facilities of the organization: Presbyterian Manor retirement community, Perkins-Prothro Health Care Center and the House of Hope, which is a dedicated Alzhiemer's and dementia care residence.

The volunteers gave a total of 6, 240 hours of their time this past year, saving the non-profit organization over $40,000. The volunteers participated in everything from running the on-site Manor Store (a mini-mart for residents - a true blessing in inclement weather!), calling bingo for Health Care residents, delivering mail, providing music for church services, delivering juice to Health Care residents along with smiles and hugs, and playing host or hostess at monthly coffee socials.

The Manor thanks all the volunteers for their time and willingness to help our residents improve their quality of life.
