Did you ever have your picture taken on a pony in front of your house? The photograhers came through the neighborhoods with their chaps, vests, and hats. And for a few minutes little boys and girls turned into cowboys and cowgirls. I don't suppose photographers do that today. With digital cameras and all the other fancy equipment (I haven't a clue what all is available), people can take a lot of their own pictures.
Now I don't remember me on the pony. All I know is on the back of the photo my mother wrote that I was 2 yrs. 7 mos. By the way, where are my chaps and hat?
The second photo is of my two oldest sons, ages 2 1/2 years and 5 years, which would date this picture in 1963. They got their chaps and hats. Mmm. Was it a "girl" thing?
I bet some of you have a picture or two similar to mine. We'd love to see them.
Come on now, tell us about your experiences as a cowboy or cowgirl.

I guess the pony guy was a little later getting to my house on Avenue Q (now buried beneath Kell West). I was seven, and, yes, I got the hat and chaps. Looks like the same pony! Mom must have the photo somewhere, but I haven't seen it in years.

How lovely! I have one of my younger sister on a pony and I wonder if that was by also a photographer that came through town - I'll bet it was. I'll scan it and post it. Thanks for sharing, Beverly.
