This column is published each Wednesday in the YourHub.com section of the Wichita Falls Times Record News, written by Senior Copy Editor and YourHub.com Editorial Administrator Mark Wilson.

YourHub column: YourGoodbye...
Contributed by: YourHub.com   on 12/29/2008

After Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, posting of blogs, stories, photos and calendar items on the Wichita Falls, North Texas and Southern Oklahoma categories of www.YourHub.com will come to an end.

We could probably spin a big ol' hairy yarn for you about what's happening to that Web site.

--It was taken over by aliens -- The Day YourHub Stood Still.

--A dog ate the piece of paper our administrative password was scribbled on, and we haven't been able to get back into the Web site.

--We're suspending use of the site indefinitely pending the outcome of lawsuits against YoorHub.com as well as YerHub.com. The Web just ain't big enough for all three of us.

Instead of those flimsy fabrications, just view it as an inevitable consolidation of forces. The Times Record News Web site, www.TimesRecordNews.com, already has something in place to fill the needs of YourHub.com users who post photos and calendar items. And our webmaster said that he's searching for a suitable format to add the capability of posting blogs and stories to complete the transformation.

At the upper right-hand corner on the home page of the newspaper's regular Web site is a tab labeled "EyeSee" that represents EyeSeeTV.

After clicking into EyeSeeTV, find the category that fits your interest - autos and vehicles, comedy, education, entertainment, film and animation, how to and styles, music, news and politics, pets and animals, science and technology, schools, sports and travel and events.

From there, you can post your photos and even upload your own videos -- a feature that was not available through YourHub.com.

Other categories located just below those will lead to "Voted Best," "Popular Albums" and "Recent Photos/Videos."

It's better than mashed potatoes with ketchup.

TRN editor Deanna Watson said that because of the relatively low number of contributors on YourHub.com, it made sense to consolidate into the EyeSeeTV service for our online readers.

Starting next week, look for a familiar face to return to the front page of this section. The popular food column written by Judith McGinnis, "Blue Plate Special," will be on the first page of what will then be a brand new "What's Cookin' " section. The back page of the section, to be called, "What's Cookin' at Home," will offer stories related to home decorating and home products, plus other features.

Now it's up to you to discover EyeSeeTV -- beginning with a visit to see what's new on www.TimesRecordNews.com. You can still keep the city and the area up to date on what your club or organization has planned, utilizing the calendar. You can still post photos-- and now also videos-- of your kids winning that game, match or tournament, or earning that special trophy, medal or certificate. And after the blog and story segment is eventually added, you will be able to become the citizen journalist you always dreamed of being.

When that happens, even if you don't have photos, videos or calendar events to share, just blog all about it. Everyone has thoughts, opinions and stories that can and should be told, and this will be your opportunity.

Take advantage of it.
