ME: So, what do you think? Do you think that the folks on the left really believe that we right-wingers want to destroy the earth, starve the old folks and children, deprive everyone of healthcare, and so on ad infinitum?
MYSELF: I think some of them believe exactly that, and you and your belligerence aren't helping matters.
ME: Belligerence? Listen, all I'm trying to do is get a good discussion going. I'm only intersted in the truth. If a person is really adamant about what he believes, he should be able to present a good argument in defense of his cause, but what kind of responses do I get to my comments?
MYSELF: Well, let me see, there was, "You're psychotic" , "You're like the Nazis" , "You're like the Taliban" , "You're probably a racist"... Did I forget anything?
ME: Yeah, my favorite. "If you desire enlightenment, visit such-and-such website".I guarantee you, if you name any topic, a website can be found for it--- pro or con. When I throw my ideas out there, I don't want to be called names or told to visit a website. If someone thinks I'm wrong, I would like them to give me their best argument, and convince me I'm wrong. Let me know why they believe the way they do. If I don't get a rebuttal, I can only assume I'm right.
MYSELF: Maybe they feel intimidated.
ME: I don't know why they would. I consider myself a patriot, and a firm believer in every person's Constitutional right to believe what they want to, and to express their views on the subject, but sometimes I'm curious as to how they arrived at their conclusions.
MYSELF: Maybe they just figure you're not worth the effort.
ME: Hey, you may have something there.
