Blog Entry 2 of 4 Scrapbooking Mom of Wichita Falls

I guess I will begin with an introduction. My name is Mary Cluley. I have been a full time PE teacher for the past 15 years. It is the most awesome job and each day gets better. I love being around the children and they invigorate me! As a second job, to put three children through college, I am a Creative Memories consultant. What I do is teach people how to take all of their photos, whether on the computer in "cyberspace" or in drawers or under beds...and preserve them in scrapbook albums. I have been doing this for 5 years now, and I also love it more each day. My purpose in having this blog is to encourage you to "do something" with your precious family photos. Preserve them. Write about them. Write about your love for your family next to them. So many people have told me that inherited bags/boxes of photos from family and no one knows who they are! If you are crafty, great! If not, you will be like me....not a crafty bone in my body but I do this because I want my children to know how much I love them. I do this simply, as I do not have a lot of time to spend hours on each page. Mainly, I showcase my family photos, and write about how much I love my children. It's a legacy of love I am passing down. I'll be talking about a lot of aspects of scrapbooking. I'd be happy for you to contact me with any questions. Your written legacy of love...where is it?

What is your written legacy of love to your family? I believe it is your journalling, in your own handwriting...written TO your children, using their names a lot! What is journalling? Simply, it is the what /who/where of your photos. But it is so much more than that. I incorporate feelings into my journalling. Instead of , "Gary, Easter 1986," I journal, "Gary, look how cute you look in your Easter suit, 1986."
This is why I believe in the power of scrapbook albums. I am passing my love to Gary in his album. I use his name a lot. You can do the same. We all love to hear our own name. Why not do the same in your child's scrapbook album? I encourage you to use your son or daughter's name on every page. Do your writing "to" them. Once again, your love, passed down.
Some people do their journalling on a computer, as they say they do not like their handwriting. Occasionally, I guess that is OK. Overall, and I can only speak for myself, I LOVE reading anything my own mother wrote in her own handwriting. And if it was about ME......I really love it!
I am hoping I have inspired you a bit to do this for your family. My next post will about about "how" to do it simply. You and I don't have any time to do anything elaborate.....if you are like most people. Time is of the essence. We are all busy. Simple is the key.
