Don't You Love to Meet Interesting People?

One of the things I really enjoy is meeting interesting people with positive outlooks. They are usually interested in more than themselves and look for ways to make their community a better place.

This week I had the opportunity to meet Jarid Manos, the founder and CEO of the Great Plains Restoration Council. A very interesting person, Jarid is working to restore parts of the prairie that blanketed much of the area between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains. I think what is so interesting about Jarid's work is that he ties the state of the environment to the state of society and has projects to use prairie restoration as a way for children who have been exposed to violence and abuse to also restore their own lives.

Jarid agreed to spend some time with our EocFair Committee and the Sierra Club on Thursday night. He has agreed to return to Wichita Falls on October 4 to speak at the EcoFair. I hope many people will come to listen to this passionate spokesperson for youth and the prairie.

But, Penny, I only post this here in response with the knowledge that my responses will be "censored" and jettisoned by Mr. Mark Wilson. "Thou Shalt NOT 'PO'" Mr. Wilson, for then YOUR input is simply gone. Whatever.... The question for everyone HERE is just WHY this site is dead as a doornail? This place ought to be singing with "public" input. It is not. Why? Well, heck, if you can't go to hell, might as well raise ONE LEGITIMATE QUESTION... This won't see the light of day anyway, so I am wasting my time. Great post, by the way...

Penny, Absolutely! I've spent my working life ('bout 25 years now) traveling around this country meeting all kinds of Americans of every stripe and so-called social strata. America is full of amazing people. Each of us are amazing really... Heck, even ole Gene. :) I'm sure Gene's friends tell him that every day. :) Part of what I really love about going all over our country is to see the various forms of wildlife. But the birds most take me.
