I remember some 10 years ago and the idea was proposed that Soda machines were given a Smart Meter and a Real Time Energy guide(CA). The idea was that at peak times a soda in this machine would go up in price from $1 to $1.50 so to off-set the cost of the energy needed to keep the soda cold. Great idea I suppose, unless you are the consumer. Do government agencies care that these so-called green laws and green ideas cost US the America consumer in the long run? Has anybody told Green Peace or Al Gore that it is you and that suffer from the high cost of milk, eggs and cheese when this insane idea of global warming is passed on to the consumer? The next idea that is rumored to be endorsed through Al Gore and the Obama likes California insanity is the use of Smart Meters and Real Time Energy ideas on our personal homes:

" ASmart metergenerally refers to a type of advanced meter (usually an electrical meter) that identifies consumption in more detail than a conventional meter; and optionally, but generally, communicates that information via some network back to the local utility for monitoring"

This would give the Energy Company and the government access to our homes and the amount of energy we use. They could either limit the amount of energy going into our home allowing us to not washing dishes and clothes at the same time OR the could increase the cost of electric if we exceeded the daily limit on usage. Both processes seem rather "1984"ish and un-America to me.

"This page shows the real-time energy demand database which is updated every 15 minutes. The table below displays building names and their actual kilowatt values which updates itself every 60 seconds."

The use of these so-called smart meters coupled with a real-time energy data based would require Americans to stay up later to do home chores and allow government the chance to further tax businesses that MUST work during peak hours of electric use. Once again passing the cost on to who - the America consumer. Progress in America is one things, growth is America is quite another. But this new ideas, Al Gores lies about global warming and the impending economic disaster will certainly cost Americans their freedom if these "1984" ideas are not put before the America voter before they are allowed to take affect.

As with the original idea of the Smart Soda machine, as with the original idea for electric cars, the American consumer will only be pushed so far. The Inconvenient Truth is, if you inconvenience the America consumer they will stop buying! And if you make things cost to much, you will only hurt America. Well, maybe that is what the left-wing activist want - A Communistic Country like China or Cuba?
