I'm sorry I had to leave you in a sudden kind of way,
But I had a Friend to say that He needed me today.
I didn't have time to call or even say goodbye;
For this friend of mine was in a hurry so I didn't even try.

I knew that you would understand 'cause that's the way you are.
Don't worry about the distance because it's really not that far.
Don't wait up, please don't cry,
For we'll be again together in the sweet by and by.
