Blog Entry 3 of 181 Everyone Has an Opinion; These are mine
Everyone has a right to their own opinion, everyone does not have a right to their own set of facts. The lie of political correctness, the motive of a relative society is to confuse people into mistaking wrong for right. There are biblical absolutes and I try my best to adhere to these principles and prcepts. Do I make mistakes YES. Do I get confused YES. But I never mistake dishonesty for honesty and I know a lie when I tell it. So, that all said, these are my opinions as I see them.

More "Work" on Education
Contributed by: Charles Paul Stephens   on 6/5/2007

School lunches, nutrition, field trips and of course the TAKS test
it would seem that a day does not go by in Texas in which our
education system has some other problem. Today, Monday
6/4/07 it just happens to be cheating on the TAKS. The Dallas
Morning News reports that at least 50,000 TAKs test are suspected
of being passed by cheating. Some of these students have already
graduated. Grant, there are many many great teachersin Texas
today! And many care deeply in their hearts about education and
each child's growth. However, with a deadly combination of
government control and union interference these great teachers
simply cannot do their jobs. These same great teachers have little
to say about materials and the facts that some may not be within their
value system as conservative adults. The powers that be simply do not
care. Salaries, bonus and tenure is passed solely on TAKS scores and
little else. Advancement and promotion is based on grant money and
peer reviewwith actual success seldom regarded. Arguments over
evolution, creationism, global warming and world peace should be left
to political science majors and not everyday students who find their
comfort in a loving and kind God of their understanding. Considering
drug addiction, Alcoholism, student crime and overall dropout rates
exactly who is getting a "real" education anyway? Many of these same
great teachers change careers because of their useless feelings/emotions.
Of course this is just one humble opinion based on a willingness to
write about what I see and hear from those sodisgusted that they
are about to give up. Ok, America needs highly educated immigrates!
Now, want one moment.....where are all of our highly educated college
grads? Why do we need China's or India's? Could it be that America's
liberated, Freudian teachings are outdated and useless in this new age?
Could it be that we should return to an earlier time where each student
was tested for their unique skill and gifts? As we continue to make excuses
for a failed system that takes more and moremoney from the pockets of
hard working Americans think about this - There are two spiritual principles
that come BEFORE "getting and having". Those spiritual principles are
"Working and earning". An education alone is useless if there is NOT a
good work ethic that goes with it. Allowing flip-flops and halter tops is
great if you work at Hooters or the boat dock. However God wants our
Obedience not our Sacrifice.Yes, Christain Character begins at home.
However, when a governement requires that a child attend school beginning
at 5 , when a governement taxes it citizens so much that both parents must
work, then the Christian Character must be allowed back into schools.

Charles, your understanding that the school and church were one until 1960 is something very new to me. What do you mean by this? How was it so?

Charles, as to marital, and other social problems, I guess I really can't summon the evidence for it being the result of the activities of an invisible foe, or foes. Such a thing might exist, but the evidence for it is lacking in my view.

Charles, I was not aware that the Baptists (Southern?) issued a list of pastors with sexual problems.

Charles, I'm not sure what letter you are referring to here, though. Jefferson wrote many letters while in France. Do you know which one in particular you are thinking about?

Charles, I thought I had responded to this one sometime back, in fact, I know I did but it does not show. Wasn't ignoring you. As far as public school teachers being allowed to evangelize and disciple their students at school, it presents an 'establishment' (of religion) problem at the Constitutional level. I'd say if a teacher is so inclined to do so, they could find ways to do so without it being on school time or something. The doctrine of separation is based on far more than a letter from Jefferson while he was in France. It has much deeper, and much stronger principles behind it.

As for the divorce rate among Christians, I have the same report that you do. I also have the report where Christians view more porn than the average person. As well, you must have seen where the Baptist have just released the name of ANY pastor that has sexual problems. I know all that Mark and unlike you, that strengthens my resolve! Satan is a mighty mighty foe! And if you are an agent of the Lord, satan comes after you even harder! So, a person who is not being tempted, a person whose life is untreatened, he is of no consequence to satan. We see people fall prey to this spiritual battle everyday! Are they hypocrite.....NO! Are they bad people....NO! Are they sinners.......Yes! All of us sin, all of us! And the very best we can do is try even harder.

Again I think we agree! The only problem with your thought is that many school teachers are Christians too, yet they must squash that part of themselves the entire time they are at school. They cannot disiple or teach in accordence with their own belief due to your(others) beliefs. Where is that fair? I would take acception the your point that "constitutionally" that is where they should stay? What about the early text? Until 1960 church was a part of school. It was NOT two seperate entities. Why did it take 200 years for someone to decide that there should be a seperation? As for the so called mention of church and state, it has NOTING to do with school or court houses. The whole intent was to assure that America was not FORCED not one religion. Instead now we are FORCED into Non-religion on the basis of one letter Jefferson wrote while vacationing in France! Ahhh the thorns of Socialism bite again. Socialized Religion first, then Socialized Medical.

Charles, I would surely agree with you that Christian character begins at home. Frankly, it is a private enterprise, the sole responsibility of good Christian folk to 'train up' their children in all such matters. The Christian home, and the Churches are the places where those types of 'values' should be taught. Apparently, both the Christian home, and the Churches fail at this as the divorce rates of Christians, and particularily Evangelical Christians are higher than those who hold no belief at all. In my view, ALL TAX PAYING AMERICANS should not be called upon to 'finance' the multitudinous Christian 'value systems', doctrines, or dogmas INSIDE our PUBLIC SCHOOLS. The teachings of those particular 'value systems' are rightly the responsibility of home and church, and that is where, constitutionally speaking they should stay.
