I can't understand it when people say there is nothing to do in Wichita Falls. I have more trouble trying to find time to do everything I want to do. It never happens.
Even when one considers I like to do a lot of things that other people just find weird, there is still much to do for the normal folks in the area. But we'll forget the symphony and the plays and the street fairs and the shows and concerts, etc. I'm talking about getting out in the great outdoors.
Tonight at the Texas Master Naturalists meeting, we are already running out of weekends to fit in all of our activities. Every Saturday has a field trip, advanced training, or volunteer project. This is in addition to the twice a week Spring training classes. The Trans-Texas Quail Count, Breeding Bird Surveys, Mussel Watch, Butterfly Counts, rainwater harvesting demonstration project at River Bend, Horned Lizard surveys, wildscaping at Wild Bird Rescue, lake cleanups and several other projects vie for attention. Field trips to Hackberry Flats and other local wildlife hotspots are also on the list. Several of the members of the organization are also presenting adult education programs for River Bend. From now through the EcoFair October 4, there is a constant round of outdoor activities for those of us who like that sort of thing. I know from experience that the EcoFair won't wrap up the year--but that's as far as I have posted to my calendar. There may not be time to do everything, but one can't say there is nothing to do.
